In conjunction with a local contractor we were asked to look at the energy savings available by changing the belt driven centrifugal fans in the existing 25 year old AHU’s to direct driven plug fans. Following calculations by our design team the cost savings were an attractive proposition for the client and we were instructed to proceed with the works. Our team visited site to carry out a full survey of the site and assess how the works could be carried out. The existing fan was cut up in situ due to access issues and removed from site via a mixture of staircases and lifts. The new one thousand millimetre diameter fan complete with 30Kw motor was broken down to the smallest possible component form and positioned into the building and then the plant room by our site team. Using a lifting gantry and hoist our site team installed the new plug fan and motor into the unit. The new motor was then wired and connected to the existing inverter and the system tested.
