AHU Refurbishment Project – Liverpool John Moore’s University

CLP Air Group supplied and installed 29 flat-pack AHUs for the Liverpool John Moores University refurbishment project. Designed to meet energy efficiency standards and overcome site access restrictions, the project was successfully completed in collaboration with Kimpton Energy Solutions.

Project Overview

CLP Air Group recently supplied 29 flat-pack Air Handling Units (AHUs) for the Liverpool John Moores University refurbishment project at the city centre campus. This project was undertaken in collaboration with our client, Kimpton Energy Solutions, to replace existing AHUs while ensuring minimal disruption to day-to-day operations.

Meeting the Challenge

Due to challenging access restrictions at the existing building, all 29 AHUs were provided in a flat-pack format, allowing for efficient transportation and installation. The university remained fully operational throughout the works, necessitating a precise and coordinated approach to the installation process.

Innovative Design and Installation

  • Supplied 29 flat-pack AHUs to accommodate the restricted site access and existing building constraints.
  • Manufactured all AHUs at our UK site in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, ensuring quality control and efficiency.
  • Installed by our dedicated in-house installation team, ensuring seamless project execution.
  • Integrated high-efficiency direct-driven fans and heat recovery coil systems to meet the latest energy efficiency standards.
  • Custom-built and designed each system to align with the site-specific access restrictions.

Results

The project was completed successfully and on schedule, ensuring Liverpool John Moores University received high-quality, energy-efficient AHUs tailored to its refurbishment needs. The collaboration between CLP Air Group and Kimpton Energy Solutions was instrumental in achieving a smooth installation process while maintaining the university’s operational continuity.

Paul Cooper, Project Manager at Kimpton:
“Our life is made much easier when we are working with top-quality AHU equipment. We have worked closely with both LJMU and CLP Air Group for many years, and what it has taught us is that if you want to keep clients long-term, then install good kit and install it well.”
