Bespoke Air Handling for Multi-Floor Activity Centre – Gravity

Project Overview

Gravity’s new activity centre, located next to Westfield Shopping Centre in Stratford, required a tailored air handling solution to manage significant temperature fluctuations caused by diverse activities, equipment, and high visitor footfall. With the plant space situated on a landlocked roof and no crane access available, this project presented unique logistical challenges.

Meeting the Challenge

CLP Air Group worked closely with the client to overcome the site’s physical constraints while delivering a system capable of maintaining a comfortable environment for both visitors and staff. By designing a flat-pack solution and managing on-site assembly, we ensured the project was delivered efficiently and with minimal disruption.

Innovative Design and Installation

• Designed a 20m³/s bespoke air handling unit (AHU) in a flat-pack configuration to allow transportation through a service void, addressing the lack of crane access to the plant area.
• Supplied eight additional AHUs to provide heating, cooling, and ventilation for the retail, food, and beverage spaces.
• Delivered and reassembled all units on-site, ensuring seamless integration into the building’s infrastructure.
• Commissioned the system and provided comprehensive training for the client and end users, ensuring smooth operation.

Results

The completed system provides reliable, energy-efficient air handling tailored to the unique demands of a high-performance leisure facility. Gravity now benefits from a robust, innovative climate control solution designed to enhance visitor experience and operational efficiency.
