Santander Bank. Glasgow & Sheffield – Refurbishment of Existing AHUs

Project Overview

Santander faced significant challenges with their ageing AHU system, which had been part of the initial building design over 25 years ago. The equipment was beginning to fail due to age, and it no longer met current building regulations, occupancy changes, and new usage demands. The refurbishment required both upgrades to the existing system and the addition of new equipment to ensure optimal performance.

Meeting the Challenge

CLP Air Group was tasked with modernising the AHU systems in Santander’s Glasgow and Sheffield sites. The project required addressing the outdated technology while ensuring compliance with new building regulations and energy efficiency standards. Additionally, the new equipment needed to integrate seamlessly into the existing infrastructure, ensuring minimal disruption during the refurbishment process.

Innovative Design and Installation

• Refurbished several AHUs at two major Santander locations, updating key components to extend system lifespan and improve performance.
• Installed new coils and made casework modifications to accommodate modern technology.
• Deployed large EC fan walls with control panels to enhance airflow and energy efficiency, ensuring the systems could meet the needs of a modern financial institution.
• Fitted new hardware and door gaskets to existing access doors to reduce leakage, improve overall system performance, and ensure regulatory compliance with current standards.

Results

The refurbished AHUs are now equipped with state-of-the-art technology, providing improved energy efficiency and reliability. The updated systems meet the increased demands of the buildings and the latest regulations, enhancing comfort and performance at Santander’s Glasgow and Sheffield branches.
